“With our new ELASTOSIL® R 756 product line, we are responding to the rising demand for elastomer components in applications where the elastomers are repeatedly exposed to very high temperatures for long periods of time,” stresses Dr. Jürgen Ismeier, marketing manager at WACKER SILICONES. “In regard to heat resistance, ELASTOSIL® R 756 pushes silicones to the limits of what is technically feasible.”

WACKER offers silicone processors both the colorless, translucent base stock without additives and ready-to-use compounds that already contain highly effective heat stabilizers. The type of heat stabilizer and the amount added dictate the thermal stress that the cured silicones can withstand. The color of the cured rubber is also determined by the type of heat stabilizer used. If the colorless base stock is selected, processors have the freedom to optimize the compound to their processing methods and their own thermal stability and color requirements. Those who choose the ready-to-use compound do not need to perform the compounding step themselves.

There are also various possibilities for processing. The new solid silicone rubber grades can be processed by compression molding, injection molding and extrusion, though the latter requires use of a suitable heat stabilizer compatible with the crosslinker. A broad spectrum of molded parts and profiles can thus easily be manufactured
